Flashing the Samsung GT-C3510 (Corby Pop) (Genoa)-USB CABLE

Hey people! Well I was just working on a Samsung Corby pop. (GT-C3510) Also called Genoa in Europe and God knows where else :) I didnt find anything on the net regarding how to do it... So i decided to write about it... Ok..
-> You will need a USB cable.
-> Make sure you charge your phone to maximum battery level.
-> If you brick (kill) your phone in the process, please don't ask me. I have tested it and have not had any problems. Try this at your own risk!!!
-> Make sure there is no power failure and never plug out the data cable when the upgrade is going on. You're phone will reduce to just an expensive paper weight. :P

 There are two ways of upgrading the software on this one.

1) Download Samsung New Pc Studio.
->You could get it from this link. http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/2150463/samsung-gt-c3510-new-pc-studio-1.5.1.10064_2-windows-2000-xp-vista-windows-7-free-download.html

Or you could just search for it on google.

-> Install and run the software. It should look like below.

-> Before you plug in your phone, Open Menu->Settings->Pc Connections->Always Ask.
(Change the settings to 'always ask' and save.)
-> Plug in your phone to the usb cable and then to the system. The phone will ask which option to select. Select "Pc Studio".
-> The software (Samsung New pc studio) should detect the phone. Once connected, go to the bottom of the screen on your system, you will find "Upgrade Mobile phone" as seen in the picture.
-> Click on it. It should search for any available firmware. Follow rest of the instructions on screen.

2) Using a flasher

If the above software shows "No firmware available" and you still want to flash the thing, read on! :) By the way, downloading and installing the Samsung New pc studio is required. It has the drivers for your phone.

-> Download C3510_Flash loader 7.0.4_SGH_05_v1.4 for Product 3. (I haven't tried it on any other phones except for C3510. So if you want to try it on some other phone, go ahead.)
Here is the link.  http://www.4shared.com/file/SmRHkLRk/C3510_Flasher.html

-> Download the firmware files for C3510. Here's the one's I used.
Link: http://www.4shared.com/file/Iu7_tGX8/C3510JPJF2.html
or
http://www.4shared.com/file/9mNA2APL/Samsung_C3510_Firmware_VIIL2_Z.html

-> Extract contents of the C3510 Flasher RAR to the desktop. (The whole folder). Also extract the firmware files into a folder on the desktop.

->Then run the file named "C3510_Flash loader 7.0.4_SGH_05_v1.4 for Product.exe" You will see the following interface.
-> Click on "Select Model" and browse to the folder C3510 flasher which you extracted to the desktop. Select the file C3510_GENOA_Setting_v02.mdl and click open.
-> Select BIN+STL/BIN+TFS.
-> Select with CSC
-> In Application STL, select browse and browse to the folder named Samsung C3510 Firmware VIIL2_ZVVIL2_H4 - Vivo which you extracted to the desktop. Select the file C3510DXIL7_OLAIL7_STL.bin and click open
-> In Application CSC file click browse and browse to the folder named Samsung C3510 Firmware VIIL2_ZVVIL2_H4 - Vivo which you extracted to the desktop. Select the file C3510OXEIL3.csc and click open.
-> Scroll down to the bottom and you will find "number of devices" Make that value to "1" if its not.
-> If your phone is connected, remove it and switch it off. Dont connect it yet.
-> Press Start on the C3510 flasher
->  Press and hold the volume down button and camera button of your phone together. Then connect the cable. Leave the buttons only after you hear the "new device connected" sound of windows.

-> Wait for a while, as it proceeds through the steps. If all went right it should proceed as shown in the picture.
-> After about 10 minutes or so, if the software shows "Freeing slot to connect other device"  You're done.
-> Unplug your phone. Remove the battery and wait for about 10 seconds. Then put it back in.

-> Done! Enjoy using your flashed phone! :)

Aloha!!!

I've always felt the urge to scream at certain people who write techie stuff on the net... I mean why cant these guys make things simple? Alright! They are highly distinguished selves who know a lot of stuff, but I don't think it's a great thing if you can't spill it out in normal language and make it useful for other people as well. :) And not everyone is an expert right?

Ok... Thats an intro :) I'm just a noob head. I know something about something and I'm gonna put it here for the rest of them like me. Next question, What will I write about? Well, I do a lot of reading online. And I am a cell phone freak :)  So I keep trying stuff like flashing, modding (changing certain parts of software so that it works the way we want it to) etc... And I do some computer stuff too... So prolly thats where I'm gonna start.

I will be using a lot of online references and whenever its not something I have tried, I will make sure I will link it up to its origin. Ok... Hope the topics I post in this blog will be helpful to you guys... And will be to me as well, for reference in later times... :)

Happy Modding!!!!!!!! :)
