You can change this in the registry.
1) Start -> Run -> Type regedit
2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro
3) Change PrintMediaReady to A4.

Setting A4 size on HP Printer - Editing the Registry
You might have noticed that whatever you do, your HP printer shows Letter instead of the loaded paper A4.
You can change this in the registry.
1) Start -> Run -> Type regedit
2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro
3) Change PrintMediaReady to A4.
