4) Extract files with winrar
5) Insert a pendrive. Run Wincris.exe
6) Click Start after selecting the pendrive in the menu.
7) Once done, remove pendrive. close wincris. And insert pendrive again.
8)  Copy the file BIOS.wph in the step 2 to the pendrive and click replace.

Flashing the E63/E71 using JAF/ JAF Tutorial

Hey people! This tutorial is gonna take you through using JAF and flashing any BB5 phone (baseband 5)... I'll be trying it on the E63.

Tools you will need: (An internet connection is mandatory. Assuming you will have one since you're reading this) :)

1) Navifirm
2) JAF
3) USB Cable
4) A fully charged phone which you will be flashing :)

1) Navifirm is a software that allows you download any retail version of the nokia model firmware. Some models are not there sometimes, but its almost always got what you will need. (Navifirm is sometimes detected as a Virus by the antivirus. So you should first disable your antivirus and then extract it from the zip. If not, it will be blocked and it wont work)

DOWNLOAD: http://www.4shared.com/file/KpOcp2bA/navifirm-0.html?

Files you will need from Navifirm:
MCU: stands for Micro Control Unit. This file will be the largest of all. The MCU file ends with the extension ".c00"  say for example in our case, the MCU file for E63 (RM 437) is rm 437_510.21.010_prd.c00

PPM: Stands for Post Memory Programming (contains the language). This file ends with the extension of ".V20" which is a version. The number "20" changes from firmware to firmware... For example in our case the file for E63 is rm437_510.21.010_prd.v27

CNT: Stands for Content Pack which contains the tones, games etc. This file ends with the extension of "fpsx" and in our example it is "sofie_erase_y_drive.fpsx"

Dont bother about the rest of the files.

Downloading from Navifirm

You have to first find out your phone RM version. Remove the battery and under it on the board you will find RM version. In our example it is RM-437.

1) Connect to the net
2) Open Navifirm
3) Takes a little time for it to load the list of phones
4) Once that is done, find your model in the list
5) Select the model and wait for the second column to load
6) In the second column select the latest version of the firmware you find. (usually the last in the list). "DO NOT DOWNLOAD A VERSION THAT IS OLDER THAN THE ONE ON YOUR PHONE. INSTALLING AN OLDER SOFTWARE THAN THE ONE ON YOUR PHONE IS CALLED DOWNGRADE AND IT MIGHT KILL YOUR PHONE!"
7) Once that is done, wait till the list of variants load
8) Remember, the files are mostly the same, you may select any based on your liking. Only difference will be languages. If you requre a language specifically, choose a file that names your country. If english is enough, I guess almost all of them have it. Select which you want.
9) Wait for the firmware files to load. Once that is done, select the files which i just told you about. You may download the enitre thing, but it is not required.
rm 437_510.21.010_prd.c00
rm437_510.21.010_prd.v27
sofie_erase_y_drive.fpsx

10) Wait for download to finish to some folder on your desktop (better create a new folder)

2) JAF

DOWNLOAD: http://www.4shared.com/file/OgkDSEyH/JAF19862_with_PKEY_Emulator_v5.html?
1) Extract the contents of the zip file to desktop. Install JAF. After installing JAF, just double click the "OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v 5.exe" The emulator will open and it will show loading of a few files. Once that is done, click on "GO"

2) Ignore the following warning and click "ok"

3) Jaf opens. Select BB5 Tab on the top

4) Select the check boxes "Manual Flash" "Dead USB" and uncheck "CRT 308"

5) Switch off your phone and connect it via the USB cable

6) Click MCU: It will take a little time to load the box. WAIT! Once it loads, navigate to the folder where you downloaded the files.  It will show a selection box where you cannot find any file in the folder you selected. This is an error of JAF. It expects only CMT files. So what you do is, manually go to the folder where you saved the software files and copy the name of the MCU file (with extension C00) and paste it in the file open part and click open. (As Follows)

7) The rest of the files can be selected without any issue. Click on PPM, the box will open and from that select the file with ".v27" as extension.

8) For CNT, in the box, you will find "DCT4 files" in "files of type". Change that to "All files" and from the menu of the folder, select the file with "sofie_erase_y_drive.fpsx"

9) It will come to the main page and you should see something like this.

10) Click Flash

11) It will generate the following warning. Proceed and click ok

12) Press the power on button when Jaf asks for it.

13) Jaf will proceed from now. Just let it down what it does.

14) wait for the process to get over. Will take upto 10 mins or so. At the end, JAf will display "done" then only should you disconnect the phone.

15) Remove battery and wait for 10 seconds. Then put it in and restart.

16) Once the phone boots up, dial *#7370# and click yes. Just to reset everything. It makes the phone least glitchy if you do a reset as soon as your phone flashing is done.

17) Enjoy!

These are the best acoustics for w760i according to what I think. Feel free to try it. Upload using A2uploader. And yes, A2uploader will be detected as a virus by your system. It isn't a virus, however.

Flashing the Sony Ericsson K750i Using FAR Manager

K750i belongs to db2010 and comes with CID 36 and CID49 encryption. SE ramped up the encryption on cid49 phones, this encryption algorithm is MUCH stronger than cid36 and hasn't been cracked yet. You can't change the CID unless you can remove the encryption first.

Since encryption algorithms are different from model to model, u cannot flash a CID36 phone with a CID49 firmware or vice versa... There are some ways by first removing the existing version completely and then flashing it with a higher or lower encryption, but thats beyond this tutorial.

To get to know which version of CID it is, connect with far manager. See step1
The best version of K750i firmware is R1CA021
The update later came with lower volume on headset music. I dont think you would want that.

Download
1) Download K750i Drivers here. http://www.4shared.com/file/V0xqAgyD/K750i_Drivers.html?
Copy it to a folder on desktop. Connect the phone while its switched on. When windows asks for driver, select this folder. Windows will automatically take the driver. It will ask for more drivers, again select the folder for windows to find it there.

2) K750_R1CA021_FS_EMEA_1_RED49.fbn and
3) K750_R1CA021_MAIN_RED49. For CID49 and the same files names for with RED36 or brown 36 incase of CID36 phone.   Both files for CID49 are in this rar file: http://www.4shared.com/file/eqyeWk1I/Fs_and_main.html?

4) Download CDA files at this link: http://www.4shared.com/file/UAudg6uy/CDA.html?

5) Far Manager: Download: http://www.4shared.com/file/2E1P2JE0/Far20b1263x86.html?

Select the location on the right side of far manager where you copied K750_R1CA021_MAIN_RED49 on the desktop or anywher else on ur system. select this file and click "copy" and confirm it. Copying will take time, it replaces all blocks.. once that is done, select the location on the right side of far manager where you copied "K750_R1CA021_FS_EMEA_1_RED49.fbn". Select the file and click copy. Copying takes a little while, after all the blocks are done, it will show "flashed ok" click on "ok".

Customizing/Unlocking the Navigation Up key of W760i

The navigation up shortcut of the Sony Ericsson w760i is locked to location services... Do the following steps if you want to customize it.

1) Make a file in notepad named default_upgrade.xml
2) The file will change icon once you save it with the extension ".xml"
(Remember to De-select "hide extensions of known file types" in "folder options" in control panel of your system. This is so that you can change the extension of the text file to xml instead of txt.)
3) Copy and paste the following code in the default_upgrade.xml file and save.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<customization>
   <registry>
     <ui>
       <settings reg-path="/apps/ui">
          <shortcut>
            <key id="nav-up">
              <type>standard-item</type>
              <action-type>short-press</action-type>
            </key>
          </shortcut>
       </settings>
     </ui>
   </registry>
</customization>

4) Now use a2uploader to open the phone. Copy the default_upgrade.xml file into /tpa/preset/default folder of the phone's file system.

5) Reboot the phone and your "nav-up" key should be free :)

Thank you for your kind attention :D

Modding the Sony Ericsson Hazel for better sound on headset (Also applicable for w995,c902 etc)

Tools you will need:
1) Sony Ericsson PC companion- Have it installed first before doing this.Here is the link. Select your phone and download the pc companion software. http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/phones/?cc=in&lc=en

2) SEMC Flash Driver- (Far manager wont detect your phone otherwise)
Here is the link: http://www.4shared.com/file/8BGF-7B2/ggsetup-2203.html?

3) Far Manager with SEFP2
Download: http://www.4shared.com/file/2E1P2JE0/Far20b1263x86.html?

3) Download the Acoustic files. Extract to desktop so that you can find it easily.
Here are the acoustic files, clear, good bass according to me... http://www.4shared.com/file/uie-lHJj/Hazel_Acoustics.html?

4) Data Cable for Sony Ericsson Hazel

Far Manager:

(CLICK ON PICS TO EXPAND)

Things I will be refering to during the tutorial.

Start Far Manager. It will look like:
Click ALT+F1 and select SEFP2
 Click on connect
 Connect your cable to the system. Switch off your phone... and press and hold c and then connect the cable to your phone...
You will see the following.

 If you see the following error, just click on ok..
 Now you are in the phone. Double click on ifs
 Now double click "settings"
 Now double click on acoustic
 It will list all the acoustic files.
 Now click the '...' on the right hand side just below "Name". The screen on the right side indicates files on your system.

Select the acoustic files in the folder "ifs" you extracted on the desktop.

Right click the files to select each one of the them.

Click copy at the bottom tab
It will copy the files. After thats done, click the '...' on the left hand side twice as required to go back to the main folder. Now select TPA

Double click tpa and it will take you to the following page.
Double click preset
Double click on acoustic
On the rightside, select the folder "tpa" on your desktop.("Click the '...' on the right hand side top below "Name" as many times as required to navigate to your desktop) rightclick each of the files to select them and click "copy" at the bottom. Click copy on the resulting page as well.

Once the files are copied. Disconnect your phone. Remove battery and put it back after 10 secs.. switch on... ENJOY your modded phone!

The Files- The files I have attached with this post are by far the best one's for hazel. The other's I have found on the net are not good enough, either too loud or too much of distortion. And Im not smart enough to create my own wbxml files :)  (I used the files under the name "Audiophile v9.6 acoustics" i found on the net which worked clearly with the phone. I tried lots of them like "Aino_U10_Mollina's XPlooD HD+ Acoustic", "Jockep's DeepBass K850i" "SPC Acoustic WBXML MegaBass v.1.0 by Borus213" etc...None of them are as clear as Audiophile. You are free to download and try any of these. Since Hazel is a new phone, u have to use wbxml and csv files of older phones like w995,c902 etc)

"Audiophile" files made the music sound pretty clear.. Quality is however better than what hazel originally offers...

Incase of errors: In case your phone shows any issues which is unlikely or you end up messing it etc, use pc companion to update the phone. Updating will restore everything to its original state. There is no option of backing up of original files in this version of far manager, so we'll just have to use pc companion to reset the whole thing.

(Hint: If pc companion shows that "Your phone is updated with the latest firmware" there is an option to "repair" click repair and everything will be restored.)

OTHER Accoustics: (If you want to experiment)
Aino_U10_Mollina's XPlooD HD+ Acoustic:

Dolby Acoustic for Hazel

Jockep's DeepBass K850i (Will work  with Hazel)

SPC Acoustic WBXML MegaBass v.1.0 by Borus213

Flashing the Samsung GT-C3510 (Corby Pop) (Genoa)-USB CABLE

Hey people! Well I was just working on a Samsung Corby pop. (GT-C3510) Also called Genoa in Europe and God knows where else :) I didnt find anything on the net regarding how to do it... So i decided to write about it... Ok..
-> You will need a USB cable.
-> Make sure you charge your phone to maximum battery level.
-> If you brick (kill) your phone in the process, please don't ask me. I have tested it and have not had any problems. Try this at your own risk!!!
-> Make sure there is no power failure and never plug out the data cable when the upgrade is going on. You're phone will reduce to just an expensive paper weight. :P

 There are two ways of upgrading the software on this one.

1) Download Samsung New Pc Studio.
->You could get it from this link. http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/2150463/samsung-gt-c3510-new-pc-studio-1.5.1.10064_2-windows-2000-xp-vista-windows-7-free-download.html

Or you could just search for it on google.

-> Install and run the software. It should look like below.

-> Before you plug in your phone, Open Menu->Settings->Pc Connections->Always Ask.
(Change the settings to 'always ask' and save.)
-> Plug in your phone to the usb cable and then to the system. The phone will ask which option to select. Select "Pc Studio".
-> The software (Samsung New pc studio) should detect the phone. Once connected, go to the bottom of the screen on your system, you will find "Upgrade Mobile phone" as seen in the picture.
-> Click on it. It should search for any available firmware. Follow rest of the instructions on screen.

2) Using a flasher

If the above software shows "No firmware available" and you still want to flash the thing, read on! :) By the way, downloading and installing the Samsung New pc studio is required. It has the drivers for your phone.

-> Download C3510_Flash loader 7.0.4_SGH_05_v1.4 for Product 3. (I haven't tried it on any other phones except for C3510. So if you want to try it on some other phone, go ahead.)
Here is the link.  http://www.4shared.com/file/SmRHkLRk/C3510_Flasher.html

-> Download the firmware files for C3510. Here's the one's I used.
Link: http://www.4shared.com/file/Iu7_tGX8/C3510JPJF2.html
or
http://www.4shared.com/file/9mNA2APL/Samsung_C3510_Firmware_VIIL2_Z.html

-> Extract contents of the C3510 Flasher RAR to the desktop. (The whole folder). Also extract the firmware files into a folder on the desktop.

->Then run the file named "C3510_Flash loader 7.0.4_SGH_05_v1.4 for Product.exe" You will see the following interface.
-> Click on "Select Model" and browse to the folder C3510 flasher which you extracted to the desktop. Select the file C3510_GENOA_Setting_v02.mdl and click open.
-> Select BIN+STL/BIN+TFS.
-> Select with CSC
-> In Application STL, select browse and browse to the folder named Samsung C3510 Firmware VIIL2_ZVVIL2_H4 - Vivo which you extracted to the desktop. Select the file C3510DXIL7_OLAIL7_STL.bin and click open
-> In Application CSC file click browse and browse to the folder named Samsung C3510 Firmware VIIL2_ZVVIL2_H4 - Vivo which you extracted to the desktop. Select the file C3510OXEIL3.csc and click open.
-> Scroll down to the bottom and you will find "number of devices" Make that value to "1" if its not.
-> If your phone is connected, remove it and switch it off. Dont connect it yet.
-> Press Start on the C3510 flasher
->  Press and hold the volume down button and camera button of your phone together. Then connect the cable. Leave the buttons only after you hear the "new device connected" sound of windows.

-> Wait for a while, as it proceeds through the steps. If all went right it should proceed as shown in the picture.
-> After about 10 minutes or so, if the software shows "Freeing slot to connect other device"  You're done.
-> Unplug your phone. Remove the battery and wait for about 10 seconds. Then put it back in.

-> Done! Enjoy using your flashed phone! :)

Aloha!!!

I've always felt the urge to scream at certain people who write techie stuff on the net... I mean why cant these guys make things simple? Alright! They are highly distinguished selves who know a lot of stuff, but I don't think it's a great thing if you can't spill it out in normal language and make it useful for other people as well. :) And not everyone is an expert right?

Ok... Thats an intro :) I'm just a noob head. I know something about something and I'm gonna put it here for the rest of them like me. Next question, What will I write about? Well, I do a lot of reading online. And I am a cell phone freak :)  So I keep trying stuff like flashing, modding (changing certain parts of software so that it works the way we want it to) etc... And I do some computer stuff too... So prolly thats where I'm gonna start.

I will be using a lot of online references and whenever its not something I have tried, I will make sure I will link it up to its origin. Ok... Hope the topics I post in this blog will be helpful to you guys... And will be to me as well, for reference in later times... :)

Happy Modding!!!!!!!! :)
